Stena Line

The Journey starts with us
Stena's Principles, Convictions and Basic Values

Our owner Dan Sten Olsson has developed what is known in the company as his “White Book”.  The book lists the expectations of the owner in regards to the company Vision and Values. The book is updated every couple of years and takes into account the global climate both environmentally and economically and his thoughts on how Stena’s role can flex and adapt as necessary to fit into the current environment.

Care is one of our core values:

  • Care for the customer
  • Care for resources
  • Care for each other

Care

One of Stena’s main values is that we Care.

It is through consideration and good care along with our guests that we create a warm and welcoming atmosphere on board.

Safety on board is a basic practice and as an employee you should always feel safe, both with your work tasks and in the ship’s organization. Don’t be afraid to ask if something is unclear – even the most knowledgeable have once been new. Stena Line’s vision is to connect Europe for a sustainable future. We do this with care!

The big little things

It is the seemingly small gestures that make our guests satisfied. For example, offering a cold guest an extra blanket, offering coffee and cake to the lady who had to wait a long time for food or look for an extra folding chair for the gentleman who did not find a place. Every effort makes a difference!

To give the guest “that little extra” it is important to think about, Look at the little things that the guest did not yet know she wanted – these are the ones that make her return to Stena Line, summer after summer. Satisfied guests come back – very satisfied guests always come back.

Teamwork

“You become like a family” – so many describe their teams onboard this way in Stena Line. When you live as well as work together for a week at a time, it is important to work as a team and always help each other.

A morning with glorious sunshine and crowded sundeck can differ a lot different from a rainy Christmas evening where the seats are all taken on board the fully booked vessel. At sea, no day is the same and as a catering host, it is therefore important to be flexible, find solutions and take responsibility.
